HISTORY

The town of Roermond, and the surrounding region is traditionally a coal mining region. In the early 1970’s these coal mines were progressively closing, creating local unemployment, or more positively put, providing a willing and available workforce for the new Sekisui Jushi factory as it opened in March 1974.
The impact and anticipation of this development was such that the then Minister for Economic Affairs, Ruud Lubbers personally performed the opening ceremony. This anticipation was not in vain as in 1990 the company moved to a new factory twice the size of the original. This coincided with the opening of the UK Sales Office to meet the growing demands of the British Isles. Success there has since been maintained by growth and development of a local warehouse supplying primarily ex-stock strap and strapping accessories to Sekisui customers on a Just-In-Time basis.
The Dutch factory is now responsible for sales all over Europe, Northern Africa, and The Middle East.
Elsewhere in the world, the core skills learnt in The Netherlands combined with Japanese technology have been key in opening up firstly a factory in the United States, then subsequently The Philippines, and most recently factories in China.
Now over 34 years on, Sekisui Jushi continues to innovate and to lead its market segment in plastic strap production and sales. July 2006, saw the award of ISO 9001:2000 for its management systems in both the Roermond (NL) Factory as well as the Milton Keynes (UK) Sales Office.
Sekisui Jushi BV also actively supports the sales of products made elsewhere within the Sekisui Jushi group. Importantly, these include Road Safety Products and Plant Stakes. In addition, co-operation with fellow Japanese manufacturer ‘Nichiro Kogyo’ means the Akebono RAN-505 automatic strapping machines are also sold and supported throughout Europe.
